Juice Feast Day 12
Today was my first day doing all of my juicing with my new Blendtec blender. I took Katrina Rainoshek’s advice and cut the produce into small chunks, not quite diced, so that the blender could grab hold.
In the first batch I loaded the two bunches of chopped lacinato kale and one cup of water, and let that get liquified. I then added the two heads of chopped romaine in three steps, adding more only once the previous addition had been completely blended.
I then poured the very deep green contents of the blender into a nylon bag and squeezed the bag over a bowl. I was amazed at how little fiber was left in the bag after all of that produce had gone in.
The second batch was the 1.5# of roma tomatoes, the two red bell peppers, and an ounce or two of fresh basil leaves. I decided to leave the lemon and salt out this time.
In the third batch I did only two large heads of celery. Again, I was amazed at how much less waste matter there was left over, about 1/3 of what I’d experienced with the Jack LaLanne juicer.
Because I didn’t want to have to clean up the JL juicer and the Blendtec, I decided against juicing the carrots this morning. Perhaps tomorrow.
