In the Navy…

(Day 62 – 304 To Go) March 2, 2008

Not to drone on about my aching back, but owww! The drugs aren’t taking much of the edge off. My back’s gone out in the past, usually when I’m increasing my exercise or moving houses, as I have to lift lots of heavy things and walk around with them.

I originally injured my back when I was serving in the navy on “Base Beautification Detail.” We were glorified gardeners. This was at Naval Training Center Orlando in Florida, and we were clearing brush and fallen trees. I lifted a log and turned to put into the bed of the pickup and BOING, there went my back. It’s been going out every so often ever since. It’s gotten better each time before, and it will get better this time. I just have to have some patience.

This is a picture of me when I graduated basic training in 1985. I weighed 206 pounds, the same I weighed on my first day of high school in 1980.
