Today I found myself driving around Denver with several raw food bars in the console of my truck. As I stopped for red lights I would roll down my window (it was below freezing that day) and hand the person (assumed to be homeless and/or hungry) one of these raw organic food bars. The people would often look at me funny at first, then read the label and smile. I’ll probably increase my food bar stash in the truck so I can continue to be generous with them.
For many years I’ve given people who ask for assistance what I have in my pocket, if I have money, or what food I have in the car if I’m driving. I love doing that. I felt even better today as I was giving these people what was likely the most nutritious thing they’ve put in their mouths in a very long time.
